We left Atlanta, heading to Newark, on-time this morning and while in the air the pilot told us we were running out of fuel and would be diverted to Philadelphia. While Philly might be interesting it was not on our itinerary. We refueled and finally got to Newark airport 4 hours late. The big adventure on the plane was a screaming child. This kid screamed at the top of his lungs for 2 hours. His mother and he were sitting on the front row and his dad was sitting next to us interestingly enough. The mother eventually had enough and brought the kid (Jason) back to dad. She looked liked she had a rough time so far. The dad, Rob, tried his best to keep Jason from crying but it was not possible. All the people around us tried to help keep the kid quiet and it worked a little. When we landed at Philly he fell sound asleep... as soon as we pushed back after refueling he woke up. I felt bad for the dad, he really tried hard but the kid wasn't cooperating.
Once we landed we decided to take a cab to Manhattan but once in the cab the cabbie made a lot of noise about taking a long time and it costing a lot of money. We asked him to take us to the PATH station in Jersey City. He dropped us off and we took a train up to 33rd street.
Once there we wandered around for a while trying to get our bearings and eventually caught a taxi at Madison Square Garden to the apartment on 85th street we are using. Once we got here we decided to eat dinner and headed out into the big city. We found a cool looking restaurant called Fetch which was excellent. We decided to go ahead and reserve a spot for tomorrow's Thanksgiving meal as well.
Tomorrow is the Macy's parade but the weather looks nasty and windy. We hope the floats get to be used in the parade but with all of this wind it doesn't look good so far. We will get up early and head over to the parade route and find a spot in the rain!!
This is a cool place, noisy and lively. Can't wait to check out more of it this weekend.
