Shenandoah rocks

Actually the are a country band with such songs as 'Two Dozen Roses', 'Church On Cumberland Road' and 'Next To You, Next To Me' . I was listening to XM radio a few weeks ago and 'Church on Cumberland Road' was playing so I decided to look up the band on the web and sure enough, there was my friend Mike McGuire on the site. Mike was an equipment manager for a couple of years with me at the University of Alabama in the early 1980's. He disappeared one day, I heard he went to Nashville or Muscle Schoals, AL to write music and play in a band, a very talented guy. He returned in December 1982 for the Liberty Bowl in Memphis for Coach Bryant's last game to help us and be a part of that special game.

Mike and I traded e-mails and finally caught up, on the phone, yesterday evening as I was driving home, in the rain, from the office (when it rains here people panic on the roads). My favorite country song, 'Another Sunday in the South' came on the XM Radio so I decided to give him a call. It was great to talk to a friend after 24 years and I'm looking forward to him coming to Atlanta to see the Braves play (GO ASTRO'S) so we can catch up on how our lives have gone and swap stories of our adventures at the University of Alabama.

Hopefully the band will hit the road early next year and we can see them in concert too.

I'd love to see them. Let me know if you hear of them coming to Houston.
