A Tale of two Christmas Eve services

Merry Christmas all... It is cold and wet and a great day to stay indoors, light the fire and celebrate Christmas together. Now we hope the snow actually comes tonight.

Teresa and I had a great Christmas Eve day yesterday. We decided to go to two different church services for Christmas.

Tale #1:
We started early at Ridgestone and had a GREAT morning. Lot's of people were at the theater early and the energy was very high. Christmas was in full swing!! There were, at last report, around 800 total people who came to church for the 2 services. There we a bunch of nice cars, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, plasma TV's around the theater and I wondered what that was about. However, when the service started it was all about 'The Gift' of Christmas, which was wonderful and better than any new toy they were showing off. The band started with a U2 song, "When Love Comes to Town" which is a great choice to start off a high energy service. They played other Christmas songs and Gary was right on with his message.

Tale #2:
We decided to go to an evening Christmas Eve service at Johnson Ferry Baptist (my old church). The place was packed and the service was real formal, traditional style Baptist with choir, hymns, etc. It has been a while since Teresa and I have been to that style service and Bryant Wright spoke on "Joseph's view of Christmas". Our jeans were totally out of place in East Cobb but it was nice to hear the carols, choir, etc. and the best part was the tradition of JFBC of serving the Lord's Supper on Christmas.

While the two services were totally opposite in style they were consistent in content, the gift of Christmas. However, I must say, I love our little church and going to another service, while interesting, just strengthens my resolve to be a part of something special going on in Canton.
