Beautiful Waterfall and an Awful Restaurant

Teresa and I again took off for the mountains yesterday. We weaved our way up to Amicola Falls State Park and what a beautiful place that was!! We didn't realize this before we got there but that is the southernmost starting point for the Appalachian Trail that goes from there all the way north to Mount Katahdin in Maine. That is over 2,100 miles!!

We now only have 2,098 miles to go on that particular trail and plan on making many return trips to that state park as the trails were great and the scenery beautiful. Georgia continues to be full of nice surprises.

On the way home we decided to go to a local restaurant called Kayson's Grille. It looked nice when we went in last week to check out the menu, figured American food is hard to mess up too much. WRONG.

When we got our table we had to clear out food from under our feet and butts (the seat was dirty). We ordered an appetizer called 'Spicy Queso' thinking we would get something with some kick. When it arrived it was a runny bowl of cold white cheese dip and one single slice of a jalapeno floating in it. We sent it back to add more KICK and HEAT but it didn't help because the chips were old and had the consistency of rubber!! Oh well, on to dinner.

Dinner was fish, salad, shrimp and hushpuppies. Now, the salad and hushpuppies were decent, the shrimp was teeny tiny and OK but the fish was nasty... tasted like white cardboard and mushy, not flaky. When we were able to find our waitress (another challenge) we asked her to send out the manager. The young man, very young, was nice and said he'd 'comp' the meal. We said we'd pay for the drinks and just move on outta there.

Maybe we should stick to the local places we really like and stick to the mountains for our adventures!
