Marriage made better, compliments of Texas?!?!?!

Looks like Texas has the dumb idea that the state/government can make better marriages. THIS story from the Houston Chronicle is typical of the nanny state, cradle to grave junk we put up with by electing the people we do.

Some highlights (or lowlights) and comments:

"the Texas House approved a bill today doubling marriage license fees to $60 unless couples take state-sanctioned classes on how to be good spouses."
- like the state knows what makes a good marriage???

""We have far too many divorces, in most cases in the first three to four years of marriage," he added. "If we don't focus on keeping families together, then we're on a downward spiral.""
- and it is the governments job to bring down the rate of divorce?

"Chisum has said no special degrees or licenses are required to teach the class. Anyone wishing to instruct couples can take a class lasting only a day or two."
- just proved my point number 1, what qualifies the state to do this??

Dumb Texas.... dumb.
