Raleigh, Hillborough and other parts of North Carlolina

Teresa and I went up to Hillsborough, NC this past weekend to see her family. That is a 6 hour interstate ride from our home. We went up Thursday evening and I worked from the Research Triangle Park (RTP) IBM office on Friday. That was nice because I got to meet people IN PERSON that I've been working with for months. A rare treat in IBM is to meet people face to face.

Hillsborough itself is a nice little town west of Durham. It is not that far from RTP yet still has the charming feel of a small town. The homes there are historical, some built in the 1700-1800's, the downtown is active and nice, old buildings and historical markers everywhere. We had a good visit with Teresa's mom, dad and sister then headed home Sunday.

Of course we couldn't take the interstate home so we took the mountain roads again. I checked a map and said 'this looks good' and took several backroads we have never been on. What a fun trip it was going thru small towns and huge mountains. If you have never seen western North Carolina and North Georgia it is hard to explain just how magnificent the mountains are.

We are staying in town for a couple of weekends, heading back to our new church home next Sunday then have some more travels this summer including Gulf Shores, the mountains of east Tennessee again and probably Houston later this year.
