- Teresa and I went to the North Georgia State Fair yesterday. It was HOT outside. IBM had a tent so we got free water but that didn't help me. Riding those crazy rides that spin you round and round makes me wacky now. I can't do what I did when I was younger. I skipped the last ride and let my young wife and our friends ride it. I watched!! Took me the rest of the night to get back to normal, felt like I was spinning all night.
- Alabama never got in to the game with Florida State, a total whipping.
- It must be Atlanta vs. Houston day today. The Falcons beat the Texans, and I don't care. Only thing I can say good about the NFL is I love fantasy football. My team is 3-0 right now but I think I'm in trouble today.
- The Astro's just beat the Braves. Today was Craig Biggio's last day as an Astro. 20 years with one team, a total class act, a representative of Houston second to none and now he's hanging up his cleats. I can't imagine watching the Astro's without him. He will be missed by this fan.
- Church today was seriously challenging. Bryant brought up some things I've never, ever thought of and need to look into them some more. Seems the more that church 'goes deep' in the Bible, the more they grow. According to some 'experts' today that shouldn't happen.
- I'm off to Chicago later this week on business. Wish Teresa could go with me.
- I've watched in amazement at what is happening at our old church here in town. They decided it would be cool, real, relevant and hip to host a poker tournament and a local sports restaurant. It appears that some of the people had too much to drink so the pastor had to say something on his blog about it (could that be a joke?). I've discovered you can't criticize some of the things that churches do today because they do it for a good cause (charity, Jesus, reaching people, etc). No matter how crazy, no matter how questionable, no matter how dumb, no matter how irrelevant or worldly, it is all for the Lord so that makes it OK. I'm not buying.
- There is a cricket chirping in my office down here in the basement... how weird.
- We had 3 families look at the house yesterday. One couple came back for a second look. They really liked the private back yard.
- Everyone else who looked at our house the past few months said 'no back yard' as the reason they didn't like it. Well, we have 3/4 of an acre of yard with a creek, trees, hills, etc. I guess kids today need flat land, smooth grass and no chance of having fun. I would have been in paradise with that back yard as a child.
- Teresa and I are off to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Homecoming game this weekend. How odd, they are playing Houston of all teams.

Quiet Sunday afternoon
It's a quiet, clear and cool (not cool enough) Sunday afternoon in Woodstock, GA. Here's what is happening.
