Sorry for the delay, it is the busy season at work/home/life around here. Can't believe it has been a month since I updated the November trip.
Teresa and I left Hershey and headed to Philadelphia for a day/night. On the way we stopped at Valley Forge. It had a great visitor's center where we watched a movie about George Washington and the troops who stayed there. We drove around the huge park, which was covered in wild animals, mostly deer.
We found a good deal on a hotel downtown, walking distance to the historical district. We went down to see the Liberty Bell and the other cool old buildings around town. Since it was our third anniversary we decided to go back that evening and eat at The City Tavern Restaurant. It was cool in that the wait staff dressed the part of Colonials from the 1700's. The food was OK, the atmosphere was interesting. We stopped at a Cuban tavern on the way back and hung out watching people go by.

We got up the next morning and checked out Independence Hall, etc. then headed off to Baltimore. On the way down we took back roads through significant places in history like Brandywine and Chadd's Ford. It was a nice drive along non-interstate roads.
In Baltimore we stayed down on the waterfront in an area known as Fells Point. That is a beautiful area where the TV Show 'Homicide, Life on the Street' used to be filmed. We stayed at an incredible hotel called The Inn at Henderson's Wharf Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving day. We ate dinner at a local restaurant on the waterfront then walked around a little enjoying the area.

Thanksgiving morning found us tired and deciding to head back to Georgia. I had the brilliant idea I would drive down the Maryland peninsula and stay somewhere around Virginia Beach for the evening. We headed towards a bridge over Chesapeake Bay and got stuck in a huge traffic jam about 2 miles from the bridge. We were committed to going that way and 1.5 hours later, when we covered the two miles, we got to the bridge and had to PAY $2.00 just to cross it. Thinking that was a rip off ended a few hours later when we crossed the bridge to Virginia Beach and it cost TWELVE DOLLAR$$$$$$$$$. We were so far behind schedule by then we decided just to drive on, as far as possible.
We did stop in Norfolk and had our thanksgiving dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Not turkey, I think I had a burger and Teresa had a fancy salad or something like that. We drove on deeper into North Carolina after dinner, stayed around Smithfield. Friday we headed home, arriving mid afternoon.
It was fun... next time we go to one place and stay there for most of the trip!!
