Hope is a good thing to have, of course, but hope alone gets you nowhere. I 'hope' that I am a good husband but if I do nothing to love my wife, it means nothing. I 'hope' I am a good employee but if I do not work hard, I get fired. I 'hope' that I have enough money to retire one day but if I do not save, I have nothing in 20 years. I 'hope' that I live a life worthy of salvation but if I do not believe in Christ's birth, death and resurrection then I am lost. Do you see my point???
Here are a couple of highlights from the column:
"Why are people walking around armed to the teeth?
The only reason I can think of is that too many people have lost hope."
The ONLY reason??
"On the stump, however, Obama has had to defend his faith, and jokes about his critics calling him a "hopemonger." But Obama's ability to inspire people -- in urban areas as well as in rural towns -- is a gift the country needs."
"Obama is surging ahead because a lot of people are tired of believing they are powerless to heal an ailing nation."
Can't people do something for themselves or do we need a politician to 'inspire' us??
Back to work... sorry if politics is not your thing, but it is ours.
1 Thessalonians 1:3
3We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
