I left the house last night about 5:50 pm to go get a massage to relieve some stress. I get to the place and the clouds were building on the horizon but I thought it was probably no big deal, just a rainstorm again. Well, about 15 minutes into the appointment the owner knocks on the door and said 'everybody has got to go, tornado warnings are up and the sirens are going'. I decided that was best so I could get home before the storm.
I left the office, it was barely raining, and had gone only 1 mile before all heck broke loose. The rain started going sideways, limbs were flying everywhere and before I knew it the hail started coming down. I couldn't find somewhere to stop to take cover (besides under a tree, which was NOT an option) so I just kept going. I drove out of the storm and hit the gas trying to get home ASAP (only was a mile away by that time).

Unfortunately my next turn took me right back towards the worst of the storm. I called Teresa real quick and told her to get in the basement, hoping I'd make it home by then. I no longer was worried about the hail damaging my car, I was worried that I was not going to make it at all so the car was no big deal. I plowed on, got home in a few minutes and joined Teresa in the basement. I turned on the weather radio and the guy was saying 'tornado on the ground in Holly Springs'. No kidding!!
The worst was over as quick as it started, just a few minutes of terror.
Interestingly enough the painters had just left about 2 hours before the storm. I was concerned the wind/hail/rain hurt the paint job but they came back today to check and everything looks good.
