Just last night I was telling Teresa that I don't think we live in an area that would be to inclined to do dumb things like other towns lately... see HERE to see what got us started on it.
Well, I was wrong. Seems like Holly Springs has decided to try to charge a 'surcharge' when they catch someone speeding or otherwise 'violating city ordinances'. They want to charge an extra $12 fuel surcharge.
What the heck is that about? Just raise the fees or cut the budget! Everyone is dealing with higher fuel prices but this is just a dumb to tax people more and not call it a tax!! It is easy for some people to support, say "yeah, you get caught speeding that is your fault, etc" and "people should pay more for speeding", etc. It is a 'feel good' tax on people, like saying "I'm doing this for the sake of the children".
May have to go to our city (Woodstock, next door to Holly Springs) council meeting soon and see what they are up to!
