July 30 Quick Hits

  • Need to get busy and post some pictures from Ecuador... CLICK HERE

  • Never miss 3 years of going to your favorite place. After 3 years of not going to Ecuador I forgot just how much that place helps to "settle me down"... change my focus in life.

  • Last week I went to the local IBM office to stock-up on supplies, etc. I heard that President Bush was in Atlanta and that he landed at Dobbins Air Base so I decided to drive by and see Air Force One. I was impressed, not sure why, but seeing that beautiful aircraft gave me chills. Everyone was slowing down to look but you had to look fast, guys with big guns were looking back at you.

  • It is HOT again in ATL. I had to laugh at a friend of mine who moved from upstate NY to Houston this past spring. We both own old Oldsmobile cars and for years I would put my car away in May (got too hot) and he would get his car out in May (in NY). Then, come October I would pull my car out and he would put his away. Well, the other day we were talking and he said it sure is HOT there in Houston. Well, what do you expect I said, I've only warned you about that for years. He and his wife made a great move to Houston as their taxes have dropped dramatically, his wife found a great job there and they can buy a nice, nice house for a reasonable price. Since they are snowbirds I'm guessing they will like the heat.

  • Since I had the brilliant idea to clear the brush and trees out of a large portion of our back yard I've been struggling to cut the grass with a push mower. Silly me, cutting grass on a hill is a real pain. Well, I broke down last weekend (just like the push mower finally did) and bought a self-propelled Toro. Now, cutting the grass is so much easier, all I have to do is keep up with the mower!!

  • I just heard a story about a soldier's funeral in Massachusetts this week. A lady attending, who didn't even know Sgt. Jimenez, said this ""I was leaving work yesterday for the wake and my manager said to me `Why are you going? You didn't even know him.'" said Sharon Dupont, 57, of Lowell. "You know what? He didn't know me but he went over there for me," she said as tears ran down her face." WOW.... WOW....
